Find the AI Daily: can you spot the fakes?

How it works

Three steps. No guesswork.

No account, no plugins, nothing to install. If you can share it, you can check it.

  1. 01

    Drop it in

Upload a photo or video, or paste a link from TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, X and more.

    tiktok.com/@viral/video/73…Check
  2. 02

    Read the file first

Many AI tools sign their files with Content Credentials, AI services in China must write an AI label into what they make, and some apps save their settings in the file. When we find one, we show it as proof, with who signed it.

    Then the picture

Two open-source AI models look at the picture itself: one for photos and single frames, one for how video moves. A video gets a timeline of where it looks generated.

Not a black box

See exactly where it gets suspicious.

We show our work: what we found in the file, the stretches that look generated, and the whole thing lined up with your video.

  • A timeline of the whole video, on the same scale as the verdict
  • Click any point on the timeline to jump to that frame
  • A plain-English verdict, with the reasoning underneath

Why Find the AI

Built to be trusted, not just used.

Private by design

Files go to our own servers over an encrypted connection, sit in a temporary file only while the check runs, then are deleted. No third-party AI APIs. Reports keep the verdict, the scores, what we found and a few small preview images, never your file.

Honest about doubt

When the signal is weak we say inconclusive, and we tell you why: small or dark videos are harder.

Straight talk

What it can and can't tell you.

A detector you can't question isn't worth trusting. Here's what Find the AI is built for.

Built to catch

  • AI-generated photos and video.
  • Files that carry Content Credentials or an AI label, shown as proof.
  • Clips that mix real and generated footage, shown stretch by stretch on the timeline.

Can miss

  • Face swaps and lip-sync on real footage.
  • Re-uploads and screen recordings, where the signal is weaker.
  • Small or very dark videos.
  • Context. A real photo can still be misleading, so always check the source.

Find the AI runs two open-source models (MIT license) on our own servers: Community Forensics for photos and video frames, and cakelens for video. We'll publish our own test results. How it works →

FAQ

Questions, answered honestly.

Something else? hello@findtheai.app

Is Find the AI really free?

Yes. Anyone can run 5 checks a day without an account, and 25 a day once you add your email. Pro is coming soon for people who need more.

What can I check?

A photo or a video up to 90 MB and 5 minutes, or a link from TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, X, Facebook, Reddit, Threads, Vimeo, Bluesky and others. For best results use the original, highest-quality copy.

Do you keep my file?

No. Files go to our own servers over an encrypted connection, sit in a temporary file only while the check runs, then are deleted as soon as the check finishes. For links we fetch the public post, check it, then delete our copy. A report keeps the verdict, the scores, what we found and a few small preview images. Anyone with its link can open it, and its owner can delete it.

How accurate is it?

It's strongest on original, high-quality files. It's weaker on re-uploads, screen recordings, and tiny or very dark videos, and face swaps or lip-sync on real footage can slip through. We'll publish our own test results.

Why did I get “inconclusive”?

Because the signal was weak. Small or dark videos are harder to read. Try the original upload if you can find it.

How long does a check take?

Most checks finish in under a minute. Longer videos take a little more.

Can I use it for my newsroom or platform?

Not yet. Teams and the API are in early access, and you can join the waitlist on the API page.
